HD SOURCE TIP OF THE WEEK: REDUCE ISSUES WITH YOUR AUDIO BODYPACKS

A lot of issues we see with audio bodypack transmitters are caused by battery not
making direct contact with the terminals. A simple routine of cleaning your battery
contacts on a regular basis could reduce operational issues. This can simply be
done using 70% or higher rubbing alcohol with a cotton swab on the contacts. If
you own a Lectrosonics SM Series bodypacks, the metal door, thumbscrew and
housing can all be cleaned using Wright’s Silver Cream.

HD SOURCE TIP OF THE WEEK: REDUCE CABLE NOISE ON YOUR LAV MICS

The most popular technique for reducing cable noise is the “broadcast loop.” This method secures the cable in the tie clip and helps to stop the microphone cable from rubbing against clothing, therefore preventing cable noise. To create a broadcast loop for a lavalier mic, perform the following steps: Attach the microphone to the clip with the cable hanging down. Loop the cable in the form of the letter J and attach it to the smaller grip. Alternatively in a pinch, create a loose knot near the capsule (see side picture) will also work. WATCH VIDEO.

From years of experience repairing Sachtler tripods, Michael Mascarin sees a lot
of shooters coming in with worn out rosettes on their tripod heads and pan arms.
He has concluded that users are unnecessarily rotating and rubbing the rosettes
in excess, causing premature wear and tear on the teeth of the rosettes. He
suggests users to hang the pan arm at a vertical position for storage (see photo #

For those who owns and still shoot with Sony PWX-FS7 camera (Mark 1 first
generation), you may encountered an issue with the external Neutral Density
Dial on the camera. There are two small screws holding the dial in position, and if those screws should loosen over time, you may experience difficulty in adjusting your ND settings. Please use a # 0.9mm Allen Key (metric only) to tighten these screws, and get you back up and running.

operators to pay attention to storing tripods in a hot car. On a hot day, the
internal temperature of a car can reach 40 degree Celsius or more quickly.

HD SOURCE TIP OF THE WEEK: LAN VERSUS RS-422

On-set operators can easily misidentify the ports between RS-422 and LAN, as
they look very similar. This could be a costly mistake, as RS-422 cannot accept
POE. When plugging in for camera control with a POE on the wrong port,
damage could result to the main circuit board. Make sure to read the label
